#21 Brian Gionta

Gionta's 68 was 5 percentage-points above the season average. He was the top point producer of any winger, and led the group in offensive-zone passing percentage (87%). Gionta also led the group in successful defensive-zone puck-battles, and defensive-zone blocked shots. He was among the leaders in successful neutral-zone puck-battles.

#67 Max Pacioretty

Pacioretty had the second-best success-rate for offensive-zone puck-battles and shoot -ins. He was tops in neutral-zone puck-battles, but was only able to get 40% of his shots through to the net.

#52 Mathieu Darche

Darche led the group in offensive-zone puck-battle winning percentage, and was among the leaders in successful shoot-ins. His defensive-zone puck-battle number was below average, as was his defensive-zone passing. That said, he had 4 more defensive-zone takeaways than giveaways.

#32 Travis Moen

Moen excelled where he should. He led the group in defensive-zone puck-battle winning percentage, while his success-rate for dump-ins was substantially better than the other wingers. His offensive-zone passing success rate was below average, while his defensive-zone passing grade was a brutal 38%.  Unfortunately that wasn't his lowest passing success-rate, as he completed only 14 % of his neutral-zone pass attempts.

#46 Andrei Kostitsyn

Kostitsyn had the second-most points and second-most shots among the group of wingers. His offensive-zone puck-battle winning percentage was slightly below average, while his success-rate when attempting to beat players 1on1 in the offensive-zone (OZDEAK%) was only 29%. Kostitsyn averages only 1 defensive takeaway for every 4 d-zone giveaway, but has the second-best success rate for defensive-zone passing.

#13 Mike Cammalleri

Cammaleri has the second-lowest offensive and defensive-zone puck battle winning percentage. His giveaway to takeaway ratio in both the defensive and neutral-zones are nearly 1 for 1 (very good), while his passing percentage in all 3 zones is below the team average. Cammalleri also has the lowest success-rate for shoot-ins.

 #94 Tom Pyatt

Pyatt has the lowest offensive-zone puck-battle winning percentage and the second-lowest defensive-zone puck battle winning percentage. His success-rate for defensive-zone passing and his success rate when attempting to carry the puck into the offensive-zone lead the group.

#67 Benoit Pouliot

Despite his size, Pouliot remains among the least successful forwards when battling for loose pucks. His success-rate for puck-battles in all 3 zones is below average, while his winning percentage in the neutral zone is the lowest among the team's wingers.

#53 Ryan White

White has the lowest success-rate for defensive-zone puck-battles to go along with the second-lowest rate for neutral-zone puck-battles. Add his 4 points and 17 shots to the previously mentioned totals and we see whey the captain is leading the troops against the Bruins.

#52 Mathieu Darche

Darche has been a beast against Boston when it comes to puck-battles. Number 52 has won 60% of his offensive-zone puck-battles, and an impressive 73% of his defensive-zone puck-battles.
 

#67 Max Pacioretty

Pacioretty has 8 points and 11 shots against the Bruins. He was successful with 85% of his dump-ins, but won only 42% of his defensive-zone puck-battles.

#32 Travis Moen

Moen has made smart puck-plays against Boston. He's successfully skated the puck into the offensive-zone on 92% of his attempts, while successfully completing 84% of his dump-ins. That said, number 32 has won only 40% of the neutral-zone puck-battles he's engaged in.


#94 Tom Pyatt

Pyatt's low rating is due to his limited ice time, minus-2 rating, and 40% success-rate when engaging in defensive-zone puck-battles. Pyatt has had particular trouble along the half-wall in the defensive-zone. That said, Pyatt is a natural centre, and most of his troubles have come on his off-wing.

 #67 Benoit Pouliot

Pouliot has played better against Boston than the rest of the league, save maybe for Minnesota. He's won 55% of his offensive-zone puck-battles, 63% of his defensive-zone puck-battles, and a surprising 70% of his neutral-zone puck-battles. His giveaway ratio against Boston is 2 takeaways for every 3 giveaways; also better than his overall season average.

#13 Mike Cammalleri

Cammalleri's grade is the product of a minus-4 rating, only 1 point and 5 shots on net against Boston. He's won only 44% of his offensive-zone puck-battles, and successfully dumped the puck into the offensive-zone with only 67% of his attempts. That said, he's been above average in the neutral and defensive-zones; winning 63% of his defensive-zone puck-battles and a solid 75% of his neutral-zone puck-battles. His work in the neutral-zone leads all players in this group.


#53 Ryan White

White has been used sparingly against Boston. Partly due to a late call-up, but mostly due to some substantial penalty minutes. His main negatives have come in the faceoff circle, as he's lost all 3 of his offensive-zone faceoffs, as well as 3 neutral-zone giveaways. These metrics may not seem like much, but when ice time is limited, each metric becomes that much more important.

#46 Andrei Kostitsyn

Kostitsyn's grade is the result of a minus-6 rating and his disappointing work battling for pucks.  He's won only 48% of his offensive-zone puck-battles, 38% of his defensive-zone puck-battles, and an absolutely brutal 29% of his neutral-zone puck-battles against the Bruins this season. Number 46 average a 67 rating through the final 4 games of the season. Hopefully, he can carry that average into the playoffs.
