2011 NHL DRAFT: Victor Rask, Jeremy Royce, Karl Johansson, Victor Arvidsson, William Karlsson, and Gustav Bjorklund one-game scouting report

One-game scouting report from World Under-18 final against the US.

William Karlsson (78) had the highest grade among the six draft-eligible prospects covered in this report. He was followed by Karl Johansson (66), Gustav Bjorklund (63), Victor Arvidsson (61), Victor Rask (57), and Jeremy Boyce (52).

Karlsson (#17) is the CSB's 21st ranked European skater.  He's a 6'0", 168 lbs centre who shoots left-handed. Karlsson's grade was carried by his work in the faceoff circle. He won all five of his defensive-zone facoffs, while winning 4 of 5 faceoffs in the offensive-zone.

Johansson (#6) is Central Scouting's 15th ranked European skater. He's a 5'8", 167 lbs mobile defenseman. The left-handed d-man skates well, but doesn't always make the best decisions, as . He completed only 2 of 6 offensive-zone pass attempts, and also tended to skate himself into trouble in the defensive-zone; eventually losing 7 of 11 d-zone puck-battles.

Bjorklund (#11) is Central Scouting's 33rd ranked European skater. He's a 5'8", 152 lbs right-handed centreman. He put up big numbers in the offensive-zone; winning 9 of 12 puck-battles, while completing 10 of 14 o-zone pass-attempts. That said, he lost 7 of 11 defensive-zone puck-battles, and was a turn-over machine in the neutral-zone; losing all 6 of his neutral-zone puck-battles.

Arvidsson (#13) is Central Scouting's 20th ranked European skater. He's a 5'8", 165 lbs left-winger who shoots right-handed. He won 9 of 13 offensive-zone puck-battles, but did not demonstrate great vision completing only 1 of 5 offensive-zone pass-attempts.

Rask (#18) is Central Scouting's 12th ranked European skater. Rask was once thought of as a potential top-5 pick, but his play this season has seen his ranking drop. He's a 6'2", 195 lbs centre who's grade was hurt substantially by his ineffectiveness in the faceoff circle. He won only 9 of 23 total faceoffs, while winning only 1 of 5 neutral-zone puck battles. That said, he did win 9 of 12 defensive-zone puck-battles, while managing 4 defensive-zone takeaways.

Boyce (#14) is Central Scouting's 14th ranked European skater. He's a 6'0", 169 lbs left-handed winger. He's a late-93 birthdate who played 33 games with Timra of the Swedish Elite League last season. Boyce's mark was hurt by his work winning puck-battles. He won only 9 of 20 overall puck-battles, while completing only 7 of 15 total pass-attempts. He did however, successfully carry the puck into the offensive-zone on 5 seperate occassions.

Overall Risk/Reward

Karlsson had the top overall risk/reward rating of the players covered in this report, and was second to only Jonas Brodin in terms of draft-eligible teammates.
