This one-game scouting report is from game 2 of the 2012 opening-round playoff series between the New Jersey Devils and the Florida Panthers.

Zach Parise is a '511", 195 lbs left-handed winger. He was drafted in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. At the time of this report he was still eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2012.

Parise is a 5-time 30 goal scorer, with a career-high 45 goals scored during the 2008-09 season. He completed the 2011-12 season with 31 goal and 38 assists to go along with 32 penalty minutes and a minus-5 traditional plus/minus. His career shooting percentage during the regular season is 11.4%, while his career shooting-percentage during the playoffs  is 9.2%.

OVERALL GRADE

Parise earned a star-level overall grade of 82. Parise's rating was helped by his 6 shots on goal, as well as his impressively-high offensive-zone risk/reward rating and his neutral-zone ratio.

OVERALL RISK/REWARD RATING AND RATIO

His best work was produced in the offensive and neutral-zones, while his 3.35 events per-minute were high for a winger.  His overall rating and ratio are even more impressive when we consider his disappointing negative powerplay risk/reward rating.

POWERPLAY RISK/REWARD AND RATIO
