2012 WJHC: One game scouting report for Nail Yakupov

Russia's Nail Yakupov is Central Scouting's top-ranked player going into the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Yakupov is a 5'11", 161 lbs left-handed winger, This one-game scouting report is from team Russia's 4-3 loss to Sweden in the World Junior Championship's opening round game on December 31st.

Anyone looking to see what Yakupov is capable of need only watch the first 3 minutes of this game.  He was nothing short of phenomenal in those 3 minutes; using both his speed and hockey sense. Unfortunately, penalties hurt the flow of the game; bringing down Yakupov's performance with them.

Note: Mikhail Grigorenko was injured and did not play in this game.

OVERALL GRADE

Despite his strong start, Yakupov earned a below-average grade of 65. His best work was done in the offensive-zone, and he was successful with all of his powerplay events. He had 1 assist, a minus-1 traditional plus/minus rating, and 2 shots on goal.
