The Montreal Canadiens ended the season with a .378 winning-percentage. Josh Gorges played in all of the 82 games.

OFFENSIVE-ZONE POSSESSION SUCCESS-RATE BY GAME

A player's offensive-zone puck-possession success-rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful passes, dekes, and shots that hit the net by the total number of attempted shots, dekes and passes.

Gorges had an offensive-zone possession success-rate above 80% in 9 games. In those games the Canadiens had a 2-7 record, and a winning-percentage of .222. In games where Gorges' o-zone possession rating was above 60%, the Habs winning-percentage was .432. When Gorges' o-zone possession rating fell below 60% Montreal's winning-percentage was .333.

NEUTRAL-ZONE POSSESSION SUCCESS-RATE BY GAME

A player's neutral-zone puck-possession success-rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful passes, dekes, and dump-ins by the total number of attempted passes, dekes and dump-ins.

Gorges had a neutral-zone possession success-rate of 100% in 31 games. In those games the Canadiens had a 9-22 record, and a winning-percentage of .290. In games where Gorges' n-zone , possession rating was above 80%, the Habs winning-percentage was .426. When Gorges' n-zone possession success-rate dropped below 80%, the team's winning-percentage was .278.

DEFENSIVE-ZONE POSSESSION SUCCESS-RATE BY GAME

A player's defensive-zone puck-possession success-rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful passes, dekes, and dump-outs by the total number of attempted shots, dekes and dump-outs.

Gorges had a defensive-zone possession success-rate above 80% in 23 games. In those games the Canadiens had an 8-15 record, and a winning-percentage of  .348. In games where Gorges' d-zone possession rating dropped below 70%, the Habs winning-percentage rose to .400. Montreal won only 2 of 9 (.222) games when Gorges' d-zone possession rate fell below 60%.

OFFENSIVE-ZONE DEFENSIVE SUCCESS-RATE BY GAME

A player's offensive-zone defensive success-rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful puck-battles, loose-puck recoveries, and intercepted opposition passes by the total number of puck-battles, loose-puck recovery attempts, and opportunities to intercept opposition passes. For defensemen, it is predominately a reflection of how successful a d-man is at pinching, or holding the puck in at the blueline.

Gorges had an offensive-zone defensive success-rate of 100% in 28 games. In those games the Canadiens had a 14-14 record, and a respectable winning-percentage of .500. In games where Gorges' o-zone defensive rating dropped below 80%, the Habs winning-percentage dropped to .222; possibly due to an increase in odd-man rushes.

NEUTRAL-ZONE DEFENSIVE SUCCESS-RATE BY GAME

A player's neutral-zone defensive success-rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful puck-battles, loose-puck recoveries, and intercepted opposition passes by the total number of puck-battles, loose-puck recovery attempts, and opportunities to intercept opposition passes. The fact that the play is usually coming toward a defenseman in the neutral-zone, typically allows d-men to produce much higher n-zone defensive-ratings than forwards

Gorges had a neutral-zone defensive success-rate of 100% in 46 games. In those games the Canadiens had a 19-27 record, and a winning-percentage of .413. When Gorges success-rate fell below 70%, the Habs winning record was .333.

DEFENSIVE-ZONE DEFENSIVE SUCCESS-RATE BY GAME

A player's defensive-zone defensive success-rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful puck-battles, loose-puck recoveries, intercepted opposition passes, and blocked shots by the total number of puck-battles, loose-puck recovery attempts, opportunities to intercept opposition passes, and opportunities to block shots.

Gorges had a defensive-zone defensive success-rate above 80% in 22 games. In those games the Canadiens had a 9-13 record, and a winning-percentage of .429. In games Gorges' d-zone defensive rating dropped below 80%, the Habs winning-percentage was .394.

Among these 6 categories, Gorges' offensive-zone defensive-rating proved to have the biggest impact on the Canadiens record. A dip in success-rate of 20% consequently dropped the Canadiens winning-percentage from .500 to just .222.

EVEN-STRENGTH ICE-TIME

In games where Gorges played under 15 even-strength minutes, the Habs had a 3-6 record, and a .333 winning-percentage. When Gorges played over 15 minutes, the Habs were 11-15 (.423), and when he played between 17 and 20 minutes, Montreal was 14-18 (.438).

SHORT-HANDED ICE-TIME

POWERPLAY ICE-TIME

Montreal was 3-6 (.333) when Gorges had at least 1 minute of powerplay ice-time.
